En 1115, la construction d'une abbaye de l'ordre de Fontevrault est commencée, sur fondation de Robert d'Arbrissel. L'abbaye comprenait un vaste enclos de murs en partie conservés. L'église était voûtée de coupoles. Elle eut à souffrir de la guerre de Cent ans et a alors été fortifiée par la construction d'une grosse tour carrée avec meurtrières en forme de croix. A cette tour reste accolé un pilier de l'ancienne église. Chapiteaux sculptés. L'église a été démolie après la Révolution.

History
In 1115, the construction of an abbey of the order of Fontevrault was begun, on the foundation of Robert d'Arbrissel. The abbey comprised a vast enclosure with walls partly preserved. The church was vaulted with domes. It suffered during the Hundred Years' War and was then fortified by the construction of a large square tower with cross-shaped loopholes. To this tower remains attached a pillar of the former church. Sculpted capitals. The church was demolished after the Revolution.
