Historique

History
The castle is mentioned from the 12th century. In 1542, during the war against Spain, the village and its walls were partly destroyed. It is probable that the castle suffered from this situation. In 1643, the village was burnt. The present building appears to correspond to the reconstruction of the castle after these events, on medieval structures. Originally, the building was of square plan with one storey on a raised ground floor and attic storey. Part of the castle, corresponding to the south-east angle, was largely destroyed. A cylindrical tower rises on the north-east angle. The whole is constructed in alternating courses of river pebbles and bricks. The angle chains as well as some old arrow-slits are set up with the aid of dressed marble blocks. The main façade, to the west, opens onto an interior courtyard. The entrance door is on the axis of the façade, preceded by six concentric steps. It is an 18th-century door, with a gorge and a segmental arch ornamented with a keystone. On the first storey, the balcony of the axial window, in twisted wrought iron, is not later than the 17th century. Inside, the entrance hall is covered with a rib vault. On the first storey is a chimney piece in plaster of the late 17th century.
