History
The building is mentioned as early as the 3rd century in local history. It comprises a vast square building whose lower part, judging by the twin openings that remain, dates back to the 12th century. The upper part crowned with crenellations and machicolations was remodelled in the 16th century, the period to which the corner turrets that flank the angles appear to belong. From this period also survives the entrance door decorated with an Ionic order surmounted by a broken pediment. The castle was restored from 1996 to 2018.
