Historique
Hôtel construit à la fin du 18e siècle par le baron d'Aigaliers, protestant influent. L'édifice repose en partie sur trois arcades bordant la place. La façade principale compte trois étages sur le rez-de-chaussée constitué par ces arcades à linteau droit, arrondi seulement aux angles. Les fenêtres du premier étage sont pourvues de balcons en fer forgé et sont protégées par une corniche de pierre. Quatre pilastres ioniques d'ordre colossal s'élèvent des piliers des arcades et, franchissant les trois étages, viennent soutenir un entablement ionique dont la frise nue porte les trois petites ouvertures des greniers et la corniche des modillons. Au niveau de chaque étage court une bande en méplat qui s'interrompt pour laisser passer les pilastres. La façade qui regarde la rue de la République ne compte que deux fenêtres par étage et deux pilastres d'ordre colossal. Cet hôtel constitue le specimen le plus original et le mieux conservé du style Louis XVI uzetien.

History
Hotel built at the end of the 18th century by the baron d'Aigaliers, influential Protestant. The building rests in part on three arcades bordering the square. The main façade has three storeys above the ground floor constituted by these arcades with straight lintel, rounded only at the corners. The windows of the first floor are provided with wrought-iron balconies and are protected by a stone cornice. Four Ionic pilasters of colossal order rise from the piers of the arcades and, spanning the three floors, come to support an Ionic entablature whose plain frieze bears the three small openings of the attics and the cornice with modillions. At the level of each floor runs a flat band which is interrupted to allow passage of the pilasters. The façade facing rue de la République has only two windows per floor and two pilasters of colossal order. This hotel constitutes the most original and best preserved specimen of the Louis XVI Uzétien style.
