Interest of the château which has retained its secondary fixtures and its furnishings. Coherence of this estate built by the Sabatier family during the 19th century. Espeyran was, in the Middle Ages, a village dependent on the abbey of Saint-Gilles. The abbots had there, until the Revolution, a summer residence. Becoming national property, the estate was sold in 1791. In 1963, part of the estate was given to the State which installed there the central microfilm repository of the National Archives. The château presents a U-shaped plan which delimits an interior courtyard closed by an ironwork screen. The north wing houses the stables; the south wing the main dwelling at two storeys, surmounted by a high roof space. The edifice was enlarged and remodelled around 1879 (slate roofing of the main building; turret at the entrance to the courtyard; bell tower surmounting the keep). The ceiling of the great reception room is attributed to the painters Achille and Eugène Deveria, who also executed the canvases which decorate the entrance vestibule.
