Historique

History
The date of construction of the castle can be situated in the course of the 17th century. The castle occupies an important position inside a quadrilateral formed by the old fortifications. The latter are flanked by square corner towers, with the exception of the south-west, which is circular. The building presents two building blocks arranged at right angles, bordering an interior courtyard, closed on its two other sides by a boundary wall. Another courtyard precedes the main block to the east. The east façade of the main block is flanked by two bodies at 45° of which the one at the north-east corner serves only for symmetry to the south-east block. At first-floor level, this façade is preceded by a vast terrace occupying the full width of the building, bordered by a balustrade rail. The central part of this elevation is articulated by four fluted pilasters with capitals of Ionic inspiration. The attic storey, set back from the façade, is animated with plain pilasters. The building was subject to modifications in the 19th century, notably regarding the interior layout.
