Historique
Eglise paroissiale primitive de Beaucaire, remontant au 12e siècle. En 1355, le juge mage prescrit des mesures pour préserver la ville d'une invasion, ordonnant de créneler et de mettre l'église en état de défense, ce qui fut fait. Très tôt, elle fut remplacée comme église paroissiale mais servit au culte jusqu'en 1789. A la Révolution, la chapelle est vendue comme bien national. Le choeur date en grande partie de la construction primitive du 12e siècle et présente un plan polygonal. La voûte est en cul de four. Extérieurement, l'abside conserve les traces des fortifications. La nef a été refaite au 16e siècle.

History
Primitive parish church of Beaucaire, dating from the 12th century. In 1355, the judge mage prescribed measures to preserve the town from invasion, ordering it to be crenellated and the church to be put in a state of defence, which was done. Very early on, it was replaced as a parish church but served for worship until 1789. At the Revolution, the chapel was sold as national property. The choir dates in large part from the primitive construction of the 12th century and presents a polygonal plan. The vault is a cul-de-four vault. Externally, the chevet retains traces of the fortifications. The nave was remade in the 16th century.
