Historique

History
The villa is mentioned in a deed of 951. The lordship belonged to the counts and viscounts of Carcassonne, then to the lords of Termes. In 1260, Olivier de Termes ceded Serviès to the king of France who, in 1261, had Serviès assigned to the chapter of the cathedral Saint-Nazaire of Carcassonne. In 1300, a paréage was instituted between the king and the chapter. In 1525, Serviès was among the domains alienated by the chapter for the ransom of François Ier. The castle comprises two parts: a building of oblong plan, called the "keep", and a set of residential buildings comprising three corner towers (two round and one square). The "keep" may date from the 12th or 13th century. Certain details (bretèches, embrasures with benches, straight staircase in a wall) favour this latter dating. As for the residential part, the straight staircase in the solid wall of the newel, the mullioned windows, some ceilings with close-spaced beams, would place it in the first half of the 17th century. The most probable date lies between 1630 and 1666. The decorated fireplaces would be later than 1784. During the second half of the 19th century, the marble fireplace surmounted by a moulded decoration is installed and the levelling at the level of the first floor of the buildings makes it possible to establish a terrace. A terraced garden is laid out on the side of the main façade. Inside, decoration composed of gypseries, wallpaper, paintings.
