Il semble qu'au 17e siècle, l'angle du quai de la Charité et de la rue des Carmes (rue Voltaire) ait été occupé par un seul immeuble, assez vaste, avec cour intérieure. History
It seems that in the 17th century, the corner of the Quai de la Charité and Rue des Carmes (Rue Voltaire) was occupied by a single, fairly large building, with an interior courtyard. When the Hôpital de la Charité was built, around 1685, it must have encompassed the entire block, but this house was spared. The house was subsequently divided into two parts each having their own entrances, one on the quay, the other on the street. The façades were remodelled. The well alone, which appears on the 18th-century plan, remained largely intact. It is a well leaning against a courtyard wall. The niche fitted with a coved alcove is ornamented with a flat band and a shell. The curb shows the usual swelling in works of this sort and period.
