La redoute de la Franqui à Leucate n 'est pas un phare mais un fort destiné à la surveillance de la côte construit au 18e siècle. A l'extérieur, la plate-forme forme talus et s'y distingue la base de larges créneaux, probablement embrasures à canons. History
The redoubt of La Franqui at Leucate is not a lighthouse but a fort intended for the surveillance of the coast built in the 18th century. It is a rectangular construction whose angles are rounded, presenting the general appearance of a Greek temple. The lower level is occupied, at each end of the major axis, by a small rectangular opening. Immediately above begin long slits with double splaying, in large dressed ashlar, running around the building, one touching the other. Two rectangular but unequal doors open to the north-east, towards the sea. The two doors give onto a semi-circular platform overhanging the cliff and the shore. It is separated from the building by a wall and a corridor terminated by two small walls which come to connect to the two angles of the building. On the outside, the platform forms a slope and there can be distinguished the base of large crenellations, probably cannon embrasures. The top of the construction is made in irregular ashlar and presents traces of a roof with a double slope.
