Historique
Devenue simple chapelle privée, cette ancienne église paroisssiale - sous le vocable de Saint-Etienne - est mentionnée dès le 12e siècle. En 1148, l'archevêque de Narbonne fit don de l'église aux hospitaliers de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem. La commanderie n'a été constituée qu'en 1237, dans le ressort du Grand Prieuré de Saint-Gilles. Au 19e siècle, une nouvelle église fut construite dans le village. L'ancienne devait être démolie mais pour éviter sa destruction, elle fut rachetée par un particulier. L'édifice est à une nef de deux travées, terminée par une abside demi-circulaire. Les chapiteaux sont sculptés dans un style rustique et archaïque. Le portail, postérieur à la construction, présente un arc brisé.

History
Become a simple private chapel, this former parish church - under the dedication of Saint-Etienne - is mentioned as early as the 12th century. In 1148, the archbishop of Narbonne made a gift of the church to the hospitallers of Saint-Jean de Jérusalem. The commandery was only constituted in 1237, within the jurisdiction of the Grand Priory of Saint-Gilles. In the 19th century, a new church was built in the village. The old one was to be demolished but to avoid its destruction, it was bought back by a private individual. The building is a single nave of two bays, terminated by a semi-circular apse. The capitals are sculptured in a rustic and archaic style. The portal, later than the construction, presents a pointed arch.
