Historique

History
The town hall was rebuilt, on its former site, from 1725 to 1732. The staircase comprises two parallel flights, interrupted by a landing or two steps responding to the interior void of the cage. The handrail extends from the departure to the landing of the first floor where it turns back. The ramping section comprises five panels and three pilasters. The departure, a simple scroll, is immediately followed by the first pilaster, constituted by opposing scrolls framing a vertical undulating stem branching downward. The two large panels of the first flight, identical to the two panels of the following flight, are not separated from each other by a pilaster. The outline of the parallelogram is repeated by an inner frame linked to it, in the middle by circles, at the angles by a small diagonal iron. The centre of these panels is occupied by a three-petaled flower, in a cartouche with scalloped outline, integral with symmetrical scrolls which join, above and below, the inner frame. Four large crescent scrolls occupy the empty space, laterally. The fifth ramping panel, which occupies the turning section, contains at its centre an oval cartouche enclosing two large crossed keys (arms of the town). The non-ramping section comprises one panel and three pilasters, at the first floor landing. The assembly of these opposing leaves is obtained by flat wedges. The assembly of round irons at the insertion of the large flat iron scrolls is maintained by strong square collars. The other assemblies are simply maintained by pins.
