Historique

History
Church probably built in the 17th century on the structures of an earlier building. In the 19th century, a porch was added to the western façade and the church received particularly rich painted decoration, notably above the nave and choir. The oriented building consists of a single nave, a choir composed of one bay and a semi-circular apse. Entry is made to the west, in the axis of the façade, by a rectangular door with recessed ashlar framing. On either side of the 19th century porch two chapels were created at the end of the nave. Above the round arch doors of these two chapels and on the gutter walls of the nave plaster cartouches topped with a shell were applied, framing an oval medallion bordered with garlands. Inside the medallion is a cross. The apse is covered with a cul-de-four vault. Architectural decoration of coupled Ionic pilasters animates it. These twelve pilasters support a cornice with an Antique repertoire, adapted to the taste of the period (dentils, mutules, choir friezes, acroteria...). On the walls of the nave are represented false wainscoting above which is depicted a false ashlar charged, in its centre, with a motif. The ceiling of the nave follows the two slopes of the roof. It is decorated with panels richly ornamented with scrollwork which frame medallions in which are represented the instruments of the Passion and other religious symbols. The cul-de-four of the apse is divided into five history panels, adorned with scrollwork. The whole of the painted decoration is treated in a monochrome of blues, notably in the apse.
