History
This mining complex is the most important in Franche-Comté, both in its dimensions and in its diversity. The beginning of exploitation of polymetallic mines (lead, silver, copper, then molybdenum) probably dates to around 1574. From 1908 onwards, work was undertaken for the search for molybdenum and it appears that exploitation came to an end in the 1940s. Of great archaeological potential, the mine has preserved its galleries from the 16th and 17th centuries (with its wheel chamber), the timber work of various periods, the water evacuation pipes and wooden pump bodies, remains of transport elements from the early 20th century (rails, wagons).
