Strong-house attested from the 13th century, which was built on a terrace no doubt circular in form, surrounded by three concentric water-filled moats. This building was certainly burned in 1636 by the Swedes of Saxe-Weimar. The present castle was built on these ruins in 1713-1714, by the architect Claude-Antoine Aillet. In the course of the 18th century agricultural outbuildings were added, as well as bridges and gateways. The present ensemble, surrounded by one of the preserved moats, consists of a rectangular dwelling on a terrace, four main agricultural outbuilding blocks and various annexes. The absence of decorative work on the façade is representative of many civil buildings of the early 18th century in the region.
