Labattoir de la ville étant devenu trop exigu, le conseil municipal décide en 1861 la construction dun nouvel établissement. Le projet est confié à Narcisse Perrard, architecte darrondissement. Répondant aux normes hygiénistes en vigueur, labattoir est établi à lentrée nord de la ville, et comprend également un logement pour le gardien et une étable dattente pour les bêtes. La distribution ne prévoyait pas de séparation entre la circulation des bêtes et celle de la viande, comme ce fut systématiquement le cas à partir de 1900. Achevé en 1864, lédifice na pas subi de modifications notoires jusquà larrêt de son activité en 1978.

History
As the town slaughterhouse had become too cramped, the municipal council decided in 1861 on the construction of a new establishment. The project was entrusted to Narcisse Perrard, district architect. Responding to the hygienist standards in force, the slaughterhouse was established at the north entrance of the town, and also comprises a lodging for the caretaker and a waiting stable for animals. The layout did not provide for separation between the circulation of animals and that of meat, as was systematically the case from 1900 onwards. Completed in 1864, the building underwent no notable modifications until the cessation of its activity in 1978.
