Inspecteur général des Salines du Jura, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux est chargé en 1773 de la construction dune nouvelle saline. Edifiée de 1775 à 1779, cette manufacture est conçue pour traiter les « petites eaux » salées, acheminées depuis la saline de Salins (Jura) par canalisations. Cette saumure, faiblement salée, était concentrée en passant dans un bâtiment dit de graduation, avant de pénétrer dans lenceinte de la saline pour y être évaporée. Les installations permettant cette concentration comprenaient un canal actionnant une pompe, le bâtiment de graduation (halle de 500 mètres entièrement en bois) et le logement du charpentier chargé de son entretien. La saumure était élevée dans le haut de la halle, circulait dans une canalisation percée, tombait en pluie dans le bâtiment rempli de fagots dépines et sous leffet du vent, se concentrait en sel. Ce vaste bâtiment ayant été détruit suite à la fermeture de la saline en 1895, seuls les aménagements hydrauliques et le logement, vestiges dun dispositif indispensable au fonctionnement de la saline, ont pu être conservés.

Inspector General of the Salines of the Jura, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux was entrusted in 1773 with the construction of a new salt works.
