Historique

History
In 1768, François-Félix Bernard Terrier de Santans, president of the parlement, envisages the reconstruction of his hôtel. In 1770, the architect Claude-Joseph-Alexandre Bertrand develops the project. Work was completed in 1772. This hôtel with central courtyard develops a grid plan with outbuildings and garden to the rear. The façade features a forward section with wrought-iron balcony and Ionic pilasters, finished with an armorial pediment. The right wing of the honour court comprises the grand stone staircase with wrought-iron balustrade and stucco decorations above the doors and niches. A carriage passage under the left wing of the honour court leads to the outbuildings courtyard. Cellars form the basement on the side of the passage to the outbuildings. During the Second World War, the garden ornament and the two lions of the perron were transferred by the owner to his château at Cléron (25). In 1954, the building section between courtyard and garden was transformed into a school and the garden into a recreation yard. Part of the outbuildings was destroyed by fire.
