L'église est citée en 1161 dans le cartulaire de l'abbaye des Châtelliers. Dépendant de cette abbaye cistercienne, le prieuré de la Grange-Salette est l'une des nombreuses terres et fermes acquises ou reçues en don par l'abbaye. Autour d'une cour carrée sont disposées diverses dépendances agricoles construites en moellon. Le côté nord est occupé par la chapelle. De plan rectangulaire visiblement tronqué à l'est, cette chapelle peut remonter à la fin du 12e siècle. Une échauguette sur console se trouve dans l'angle nord-ouest. Une croix peinte au revers de la façade ainsi qu'une croix sculptée en réemploi dans le logis, peuvent laisser supposer une occupation temporaire par des hospitaliers. De plan rectangulaire, le logis est situé en fond de cour. Deux tours rondes ferment l'ensemble au nord et au sud. Un soubassement voûté, un étage d'habitation avec trois cheminées du 16e siècle et un étage sous combles, constituent ses éléments intérieurs. Ce logis paraît remonter, pour l'ensemble, au 15e siècle, avec des réaménagements des 16e et 17e siècles. Un pigeonnier à fût rond est situé à l'est du logis. History
The church is cited in 1161 in the chartulary of the abbey of les Châtelliers. Dependent on this Cistercian abbey, the priory of la Grange-Salette is one of the numerous lands and farms acquired or received as gifts by the abbey. Around a square courtyard are arranged various agricultural outbuildings constructed in rubble stone. The north side is occupied by the chapel. Of rectangular plan visibly truncated to the east, this chapel may date back to the end of the 12th century. A watchtower on corbels is found in the north-west angle. A cross painted on the reverse of the façade as well as a cross carved in reuse in the main dwelling may suggest temporary occupation by hospitallers. Of rectangular plan, the main dwelling is situated at the far end of the courtyard. Two round towers close off the ensemble to the north and south. A vaulted basement, a residential storey with three 16th-century fireplaces and a storey under roof space constitute its interior elements. This main dwelling appears to date back, overall, to the 15th century, with modifications from the 16th and 17th centuries. A dovecote with a round shaft is situated to the east of the main dwelling. This main dwelling is an example of a Cistercian farm.
