Historique
Le château est constitué d'un quadrilatère cerné de douves. La façade nord comprend le logis seigneurial. La façade ouest est constituée d'un long bâtiment qui abritait les communs tandis que les deux autres façades sont formées de murs d'enceinte percés de meurtrières. L'accès à la cour se fait par un pont à deux arches sur lequel venait autrefois s'appuyer l'extrémité d'un pont-levis. L'entrée se compose d'un porche en plein cintre, flanqué d'une poterne et surmonté des logements pour les bras du pont-levis. Une bretèche défensive couronne l'ensemble. Les angles de l'enceinte sont flanqués de quatre tours. La quatrième tour d'angle est couverte d'une voûte hémisphérique sur laquelle s'élève un pigeonnier de 800 bouliers de calcaire. Sur la façade opposée à l'entrée principale existe une autre poterne autrefois défendue par un pont-levis. Les tours et l'enceinte ont conservé, avec leur grand nombre de meurtrières, leur système de défense qui confère à l'ensemble un caractère très médiéval.

History
The château consists of a quadrilateral surrounded by moats. The north façade comprises the seigneurial dwelling. The west façade consists of a long building which housed the outbuildings while the two other façades are formed by curtain walls pierced with loopholes. Access to the courtyard is by a bridge with two arches on which formerly rested the end of a drawbridge. The entrance consists of a round arch porch, flanked by a postern and surmounted by the lodgings for the drawbridge arms. A defensive bretèche crowns the whole. The angles of the curtain wall are flanked by four towers. The fourth corner tower is covered with a hemispherical vault on which rises a dovecote of 800 stone nesting-boxes of limestone. On the façade opposite the main entrance is another postern formerly defended by a drawbridge. The towers and curtain wall have retained, with their large number of loopholes, their defensive system which gives the whole a very medieval character.
