Sous l'impulsion de la duchesse de Berry, qui lance à Dieppe la vogue des bains de mer, l'architecte P. F. Frissard dessine en 1826 les plans du théâtre, avec loge et appartement pour la duchesse. En 1900, sous la direction de l'architecte Pierre Chevalier, le théâtre est agrandi d'un foyer vers la mer, dont la façade est ornée d'un décor rocaille (Belle Epoque). History
Under the impulse of the duchess of Berry, who launched the fashion for sea bathing at Dieppe, the architect P. F. Frissard drew up the plans for the theatre in 1826, with a lodge and apartment for the duchess. In 1900, under the direction of the architect Pierre Chevalier, the theatre was enlarged by a foyer towards the sea, whose façade is adorned with rococo decoration (Belle Époque). The auditorium was remodelled and decorated with canvases by Gaston Jobbe-Duval. The building was damaged during the Allied landings of 19 August 1942. The roof was partially restored in 1949, while restoration work ensured in 1962 the waterproofing of the building, but completed the disfigurement of the two remaining façades.
