Historique

History
The castle presents only vestiges of walls and a keep of almost circular plan. Access was made by an entrance more than five metres from the ground, which is now only a large breach. The upper part is crowned by quadrangular watch windows. The wall of the keep is pierced with loopholes, bretèches and latrines. The interior plan presents an irregular hexagon. The storeys have disappeared. A narrow spiral interior staircase was fitted within the thickness of the wall. The outer enclosure formed a quadrilateral enclosing the keep to the south-west. The whole rests on an earth rampart as a platform. This ensemble presents archaeological interest as an important witness to feudal military architecture, notably because of the keep of which few remain from this period.
