Historique
La terre de Banizette, qualifiée de lieu noble au début du 17e siècle, appartenait en 1626 à Léonard Rousseau, fils d'un notaire. Passée par alliance à la famille felletinoise des Miomandre, anoblie en 1638, elle faisait partie de ces petites seigneuries rurales de la Marche, parfois limitées à un village, que des bourgeois et des officiers de l'administration comtale ou royale avaient constituées en acquérant des fractions de droits fonciers ou de justice. Trois ailes de bâtiments d'un étage, sous de hauts toits de tuile et d'ardoise, autour d'une cour où l'on pénètre entre deux piliers de pierre, forment le coeur du domaine, composé de prairies, de ruisseaux et de bois. Le logis est flanqué de deux avant-corps carrés formant pavillons, celui de gauche, ancienne chapelle, coiffé d'une sorte de clocheton, celui de droite construit en 1685, d'après un acte notarié. Les aménagements intérieurs datent du 18e siècle (porte d'entrée datée de 1789) : escalier en pierre à deux volées droites et jour central, salon à boiseries et cheminée de style Louis XV. D'imposantes dépendances agricoles, en partie du 17e siècle, complètent cette habitation, dominées par un pavillon-porche qui ouvrait sur l'ancien chemin menant à La Nouaille. Aux alentours immédiats se voient encore un moulin, des remises, des étables, un jardin potager. La conservation des lieux dans un état antérieur à celui que nécessite une agriculture modernisée a incité les propriétaires actuels à proposer au public l'accès à une sorte de musée de la vie rurale d'autrefois.

History
The land of Banizette, qualified as a noble place at the beginning of the 17th century, belonged in 1626 to Léonard Rousseau, son of a notary. Passed by marriage to the Felletin family of the Miomandre, ennobled in 1638, it formed part of these small rural seigneuries of the Marche, sometimes limited to a village, which bourgeois and officers of the comtal or royal administration had constituted by acquiring fractions of land rights or of justice. Three wings of single-storey buildings, under high roofs of tile and slate, around a courtyard entered between two stone pillars, form the heart of the domain, composed of meadows, streams and woods. The main dwelling is flanked by two square projecting sections forming pavilions, the one on the left, former chapel, capped with a sort of small bell tower, the one on the right built in 1685, according to a notarial deed. The interior fittings date from the 18th century (entrance door dated 1789): stone staircase with two straight flights and central opening, drawing room with woodwork and chimney in the Louis XV style. Imposing agricultural buildings, partly of the 17th century, complete this dwelling, dominated by a porch pavilion which opened onto the old road leading to La Nouaille. In the immediate surroundings are still to be seen a mill, sheds, stables, a vegetable garden. The preservation of the places in a state prior to that required by modernized agriculture has prompted the present owners to offer the public access to a sort of museum of rural life of former times.
