Jusqu'au Concordat, le Compeix faisait partie de l'archiprêtré d'Aubusson. Le chapitre cathédral de Limoges assurait les nominations dès 1556. L'église est du 12e siècle, fortifiée au 14e et revoûtée au 15e. Nef de trois travées, à chevet droit ouvrant sur une façade occidentale surmontée d'un clocher-mur à pignon ajouré de deux arcades campanaires. Une rangée de mâchicoulis souligne le chevet et le mur nord. L'intérieur a conservé des fonds baptismaux double, dispositif dont il ne subsiste plus que trois exemples en Creuse. Une sacristie, ajoutée au 17e siècle, flanque le chevet et est couverte de dalles en pierre.

History
Until the Concordat, the Compeix formed part of the archdeaconry of Aubusson. The cathedral chapter of Limoges ensured the appointments from 1556 onwards. The church is from the 12th century, fortified in the 14th and re-vaulted in the 15th. Nave of three bays, with straight chevet opening onto a western facade surmounted by a bell tower wall with gable pierced with two bell openings. A row of machicolations underlines the chevet and the north wall. The interior has retained double baptismal fonts, a device of which only three examples remain in Creuse. A sacristy, added in the 17th century, flanks the chevet and is covered with stone slabs.
