Historique
Caveau funéraire - un monument original de composition ingénue et d'un ésotérisme pittoresque - édifié en 1900 par son propriétaire, Pierre-Victor Loth. Né à Saint-Maixant en 1842, d'un père maçon, Loth est devenu tailleur de pierre, travaillant notamment à Langres (52) et à Paris. Il est mort en 1932. Son carnet de bord de maçon est conservé à la mairie de Saint-Maixant. Le monument, de plan rectangulaire, se compose de quatre éléments superposés : un soubassement de deux degrés ; un bloc trapézoïdal sculpté d'objets sacrés ou symboliques ; un ensemble formé de deux piles soutenant une dalle, ornées de motifs végétaux ; un couronnement formé d'éléments superposés (tronçon de pilier cannelé, vasque au décor de feuillage stylisé, globe orné de crochets, croix, pyramide à la base ornée de volutes).

History
Funerary vault - an original monument of ingenuous composition and picturesque esotericism - built in 1900 by its owner, Pierre-Victor Loth. Born in Saint-Maixant in 1842, the son of a mason, Loth became a stonemason, working notably in Langres (52) and Paris. He died in 1932. His mason's logbook is preserved at the town hall of Saint-Maixant. The monument, of rectangular plan, comprises four superimposed elements: a base of two steps; a trapezoidal block sculpted with sacred or symbolic objects; an ensemble formed of two piers supporting a slab, ornamented with vegetal motifs; a crowning formed of superimposed elements (segment of fluted pillar, basin with stylized leaf decoration, globe ornamented with crockets, cross, pyramid with base ornamented with volutes).
