Historique
Saint-Junien-la-Brégère dépendait de l'ancien archiprêtré de Bénévent. Humbauld, évêque de Limoges, donna cette église au monastère d'Aureil vers la fin du 11e siècle. Edifiée au début du 13e siècle, l'église présente une nef de trois travées précédée par un clocher-porche et terminée par un chevet plat, avec une chapelle adventice du 15e siècle. L'élément le plus imposant est le clocher-porche au fond duquel s'ouvre un portail de type limousin, composé de deux voussures en arc brisé retombant sur des chapiteaux à crochets, et une voussure d'encadrement. History
Saint-Junien-la-Brégère was dependent on the former archpriesthood of Bénévent. Humbauld, bishop of Limoges, gave this church to the monastery of Aureil towards the end of the 11th century. Built in the early 13th century, the church presents a nave of three bays preceded by a porch tower and ending with a flat chevet, with an adventitious chapel from the 15th century. The most imposing element is the porch tower at the back of which opens a portal of Limousin type, composed of two voussures in broken arch resting on crocket capitals, and an enclosing voussure. The absence of a capital-frieze should be highlighted as an exception to the Limousin tradition. Two shields surmount the portal: one is sculptured with three stars, the other with two lions passant. The interior is vaulted on rib vaults contemporary with the construction, which is rare. Capitals sculptured with foliage or crochet.
