L'ensemble pourrait avoir constitué un Oradour. La croix devait primitivement se trouver au centre d'un abri dont la disparition a causé l'usure des parties supérieures. En effet, pour remédier à la difficulté de sculpter les pierres dures des scènes comportant plusieurs personnages, des blocs de pierre tendre ont souvent été placés sur un fût en grès ou granit. Le piédestal est surmonté d'une dalle épaisse dont les bords sont moulurés. Sur cette table est posé le socle cubique dont les faces sont abattues d'un large biseau à la partie supérieure. Sur ce socle s'élève le fût octogonal puis carré à sa partie supérieure. Sur le fût est posé un bloc de calcaire d'où sont dégagées, en plus ou moins haut relief, différentes effigies. Sur la face nord est représenté le Christ en croix au pied de laquelle se tiennent, de part et d'autre, deux anges. Cette crucifixion est complétée par la représentation, sur chaque côté, des deux larrons. Sur la face sud est sculptée, en bas-relief, la Vierge de Pitié.

History
The whole ensemble could have constituted an Oradour. The cross must originally have been located at the centre of a shelter whose disappearance caused the erosion of the upper parts. Indeed, in order to remedy the difficulty of sculpting the hard stones of scenes comprising several figures, blocks of soft stone have often been placed on a shaft of sandstone or granite. The pedestal is surmounted by a thick slab whose edges are moulded. On this table is placed the cubic plinth whose faces are chamfered with a wide bevel at the upper part. On this plinth rises the octagonal shaft then square at its upper part. On the shaft is placed a block of limestone from which are detached, in more or less high relief, various effigies. On the north face is represented Christ on the cross at the foot of which stand, on either side, two angels. This crucifixion is completed by the representation, on each side, of the two thieves. On the south face is sculpted, in bas-relief, the Virgin of Pity.
