Maison forte du 14e siècle élevée par les seigneurs de Saint-Yrieix pour contrôler le trafic routier. Elle se compose d'un grand bâtiment rectangulaire coiffant une plate-forme sommitale. Deux bâtiments annexes la flanquent au nord et au sud. Un four à pain subsiste en contre-bas, vers l'est. L'accès des retranchements est défendu, vers l'ouest, par deux fossés en demi-lune doublés de remparts de terre. Ces éléments témoignent des maisons fortes de cette époque en Limousin.

History
Strong-house of the 14th century erected by the lords of Saint-Yrieix to control road traffic. It consists of a large rectangular building crowning a summit platform. Two annexe buildings flank it on the north and south. A bread oven survives below, towards the east. The access to the entrenchments is defended, towards the west, by two semi-lunar ditches doubled by earth ramparts. These elements testify to the strong-houses of this period in Limousin.
