The land of la Morguie is an ancient fief of the Abbey of Saint-Martin of Tulle. It passes around 1658 to the family of Fenis, burghers of Tulle. The latter appear to have had the castle built. In 1712, castle and lands are sold to the bishop of Tulle who retains them until the Revolution. It is sold in 1791. The domain comprises, in the 18th century, the castle, a dovecote, an ice house, a canal, a parterre, a chapel and an orangery. Farm buildings complete the ensemble. The castle comprises a rectangular main dwelling with a central pavilion higher than it topped by a bell turret. To the north, two wings set back at right angles, continued by agricultural buildings, enclose a rear courtyard closed by a small wall and a gate. A long rectangular building borders the parterre to the east and contains the chapel, the orangery and the former house of the gardener. The ice house, situated in the small wood, appears as a small building in granite rubble stone, of square plan, covered with slates, terminated to the west in a quarter barrel vault and open to the east onto a staircase which descended to the recess preserving the ice.
