Historique
Un prieuré de Saint-Maur, dont le titulaire était nommé par l'évêque ou le chapitre de Tulle, existait à la Roche-Canillac. L'église avait sa cure à la collation de l'évêque de Limoges. L'édifice est formé d'une nef rectangulaire ouvrant sur deux chapelles latérales formant bras de transept, et d'un choeur à chevet plat. Ces deux chapelles sont couvertes de voûtes d'ogives dont les nervures retombent sur des culots sculptés de masques. La façade occidentale est surmontée d'un clocher-mur ajouré de quatre baies en plein cintre, terminé en forme de pignons qu'amortit une croix antefixe. Au centre s'ouvre le portail d'entrée avec arc brisé à trois voussures chargées de tores. Sur chaque côté, la frise chapiteau est décorée de masques et crochets végétaux, des animaux (lièvre, oiseau, quadrupède, chimère) sont figurés aux extrémités de cette frise. Au-dessus et dans l'axe du portail est percée une niche tréflée contenant une statuette d'évêque bénissant. Modillons sculptés.

History
A priory of Saint-Maur, whose titular was appointed by the bishop or chapter of Tulle, existed at la Roche-Canillac. The church had its cure at the appointment of the bishop of Limoges. The building is formed of a rectangular nave opening onto two lateral chapels forming transept arms, and a choir with flat chevet. These two chapels are covered with rib vaults whose ribs rest on corbels sculpted with masks. The western façade is surmounted by a pierced bell-wall of four round-arch openings, ended in the form of gables which a cross antefix terminates. At the centre opens the entrance portal with a broken arch of three moulded voussoirs. On each side, the capital frieze is decorated with masks and vegetable crockets, animals (hare, bird, quadruped, chimera) are figured at the extremities of this frieze. Above and in the axis of the portal is pierced a trefoil niche containing a statuette of a blessing bishop. Sculpted modillions.
