La paroisse de Saint-Genest, annexe de la cure, de l'église Saint-Barthélémy, était propriété de la grande Prieure de Fieux de l'Hôpital-Beaulieu, ordre de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, diocèse de Cahors. Elle fut des premières données par Saint-Rodolphe (860) à l'abbaye de Beaulieu. Saint-Genest dépendait de la châtellenie de Turenne par cinq villages et gardait encore son autonomie communale, sinon paroissiale, au début du 20e siècle. L'église est de plan rectangulaire. La nef présente, dans son angle nord-ouest, une tourelle renfermant l'escalier à vis qui donne accès au clocher.

History
The parish of Saint-Genest, annex of the rectory of the church Saint-Barthélémy, was the property of the great Prioress of Fieux de l'Hôpital-Beaulieu, Order of Saint-John-of-Jerusalem, diocese of Cahors. It was among the first given by Saint-Rodolphe (860) to the abbey of Beaulieu. Saint-Genest depended on the castellany of Turenne by five villages and still retained its communal, if not parochial, autonomy at the beginning of the 20th century. The church is of rectangular plan. The nave presents, in its north-west angle, a small tower containing the spiral staircase which gives access to the bell tower.
