Historique
Après l'acquisition en 1721 par le maréchal de Belle-Isle, des travaux ont été réalisés dès 1723 (pour le parc) et de 1728 à 1739 (pour la basse-cour, le château et la partie du parc avec les cascades) , par l'architecte Contant d'Ivry. La chapelle a été exécutée en 1741, et les écuries en 1742. Après 1759, le domaine a échu au comte d'Eu qui y a fait travailler le jardinier Boucher. En 1783, le duc de Penthièvre s'est installé au château, jusqu'à la Révolution. Vendu comme bien national, le château a été racheté en 1817 par la duchesse d'Orléans ; il a été remodelé au 19e siècle pour Louis-Philippe, puis pour le baron Schickler : agrandissement, restauration, transformation des anciens parterres au nord-est du château en jardin paysager à l'anglaise. Le duc d'Albufera a acquis le château en 1858 et fait reconstruire la partie centrale sur les plans de l'architecte William White, à partir de 1866. Le domaine appartient encore actuellement à la famille d'Albufera. Il conserve son réseau hydraulique situé dans le parc et à l'extérieur du parc, avec son ensemble de sources.

History
Following its acquisition in 1721 by the Marshal of Belle-Isle, work was carried out from 1723 onwards (for the park) and from 1728 to 1739 (for the lower courtyard, the château and the part of the park with cascades), by the architect Contant d'Ivry. The chapel was executed in 1741, and the stables in 1742. After 1759, the estate passed to the Count of Eu who had the gardener Boucher work there. In 1783, the Duke of Penthièvre settled at the château, until the Revolution. Sold as national property, the château was repurchased in 1817 by the Duchess of Orléans; it was remodeled in the 19th century for Louis-Philippe, then for Baron Schickler: enlargement, restoration, transformation of the old parterres to the north-east of the château into an English landscape garden. The Duke of Albufera acquired the château in 1858 and had the central part reconstructed according to the plans of architect William White, from 1866 onwards.
