Historique
Le peintre Claude Monet s'est installé à Giverny en 1883. Vers 1890, il est devenu propriétaire de trois parcelles avec trois petites maisons datant de la première moitié du 19e siècle. Il a réuni les constructions et fait quelques travaux d'aménagement, comprenant l'étang aux nymphéas et son pont. Travaillant à partir des années 1908-1910 à des oeuvres de grand format, notamment Les Nymphéas, il a fait construire entre 1911 et 1918 un grand atelier à charpente métallique, éclairé par une verrière à double pente. Celui-ci est occupé aujourd'hui par le service commercial du musée Claude-Monet, créé en 1980.

History
The painter Claude Monet settled in Giverny in 1883. Around 1890, he became the owner of three parcels with three small houses dating from the first half of the 19th century. He combined the buildings and carried out some development work, including the water-lily pond and its bridge. Working from 1908-1910 onwards on large-format works, notably The Water Lilies, he had built between 1911 and 1918 a large studio with a metal roof structure, lit by a double-slope glass roof. This is today occupied by the commercial service of the Claude-Monet museum, created in 1980.
