The tower was built in the second half of the 16th century, at the initiative and expense of the community of Oglistro. This tower played an important role in the protection of the navy (important way-station of the cape) and in the conquest of the arable lands of the Agriates. It was occupied in 1768 by French troops who organized around the building entrenchments in order to halt the withdrawal of Corsican troops who were evacuating the castle of Nonza. In the early 20th century, it was transformed into a dwelling. It is a circular tower of schist masonry, recently pierced at its base by a door giving access to a small room. Above the string course is found the original door whose access is by a staircase added in the 19th century. A terrace surrounded by machicolations covers the building. The room on the first floor is domed. Arranged within the thickness of the wall, the staircase leads to the terrace. On the terrace, the staircase guard-house has lost its roof.
