Historique
Le projet retenu est celui réalisé en 1824 par l'architecte Alphonse de Gisors. Les travaux débutent en 1826, dirigés par l'ingénieur Jouvin. En 1829, Jouvin décide de modifier la structure des planchers et réalise des voûtes traditionnelles. L'édifice est constitué par un bâtiment central rectangulaire comportant, au centre, un atrium de plan carré et élevé sur trois niveaux. Les ailes Est et ouest sont des constructions plus récentes. Au-dessus du hall d'entrée et de l'escalier d'honneur, se situent la salle des délibérations et une salle adjacente comportant un décor peint au plafond et sur les murs, dans le style néo-classique. Le bureau du préfet adjoint comporte une voûte recouverte d'une fresque représentant l'Aurore dans un char tiré par deux chevaux. Sur le côté ouest du bâtiment donnant sur un jardin, se trouvent les appartements du préfet : salon, salle à manger et bureau en enfilade.

History
The retained project is the one realized in 1824 by architect Alphonse de Gisors. Work begins in 1826, directed by engineer Jouvin. In 1829, Jouvin decides to modify the structure of the floors and creates traditional vaults. The building consists of a central rectangular building comprising, at the centre, a square-plan atrium and raised on three levels. The East and West wings are more recent constructions. Above the entrance hall and the grand staircase are situated the deliberation hall and an adjoining room with painted decoration on the ceiling and walls, in the neo-classical style. The office of the deputy prefect features a vault covered with a fresco representing the Dawn in a chariot drawn by two horses. On the west side of the building overlooking a garden are the apartments of the prefect: salon, dining room and office in enfilade.
