Historique

History
Convent founded in 1492 by Renuccio, count della Roca and du Talavo. The convent was composed of a fort and a castle from which the church and the central building were formed. The convent was enlarged in the 16th century. The church was consecrated in 1593. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the convent was a centre of Franciscan influence. At the Revolution, the place was sold as national property. The current convent building is the remains of an ensemble built on a square plan around a courtyard. The south-west wing is constituted by the church. The south-east wing is almost totally collapsed. The northern part has no building. The convent wing comprises, on the courtyard side, a gallery with a groined vault opening through arches resting on square piers. It ends with a gable. The rest of the ground floor comprises a large hall constituted by two barrel vaults. The church, covered with a vault, comprises a nave and six side altars.
