La motte de Nids est l'une des dernières mottes de la Beauce encore nettement visible dans le paysage. Elle devait faire partie d'un ensemble plus vaste, comprenant une basse-cour. L'ensemble est constitué d'un tertre de 80 mètres sur 90, quadrangulaire, haut de plus de trois mètres. Un fossé de 10 à 15 mètres de large, atteignant par endroit un mètre de profondeur, entoure la motte. Le fossé dans son état actuel est le résultat d'un déblaiement effectué en 1861. Ce travail a permis la découverte de débris de constructions pouvant être romaines, des fragments de poteries, de bijoux, des monnaies... Ce qui laisserait supposer que la motte a été édifiée à l'emplacement d'un édifice romain.

History
The motte of Nids is one of the last mottes of the Beauce still distinctly visible in the landscape. It must have been part of a larger ensemble, comprising a bailey. The ensemble consists of a mound of 80 metres by 90, quadrangular, more than three metres high. A moat of 10 to 15 metres wide, reaching in places a depth of one metre, surrounds the motte. The moat in its current state is the result of a clearance carried out in 1861. This work permitted the discovery of debris of constructions possibly Roman, pottery fragments, jewels, coins... which would suggest that the motte was built on the site of a Roman building.
