The fief is attested from the beginning of the 15th century. The castle, surrounded by moats, was served by two small removable wooden bridges which still appear in a 19th-century drawing, since replaced by masonry structures. The present chapel dates from 1810. The previous one was located in one of the castle's pavilions. The building consists of a longitudinal body raised on a terrace, at the end of the courtyard. It is flanked, to the west, by two square pavilions. Two other square pavilions, paired, flank the courtyard of honour, to the east. The original interior elements do not appear to have survived. This castle is representative of Sologne castles both by the type and origin of its construction, at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century, by a wealthy bourgeois from Orléans, and by its use as a hunting lodge at the end of the 18th century, or by the modifications undergone in the 19th century to transform the seigneurial dwellings into comfortable residences.
