Historique

History
The present château was built in 1643 to replace the old château of the seigneury of la Celle, by the knight Richard Petit, king's counsellor and secretary. It was raised, in the central part, by one storey at the beginning of the 20th century. Surrounded by moats on three sides, the château is bathed on the south by La Cléry. The main dwelling, which was originally of a single storey, is flanked by two higher pavilions. Moulding of stone masonry with ashlar courses and exposed brick surrounds. To the west, the château is preceded by an esplanade from which it is separated by an old bridge which crosses the moats. To the north, the château farm preserves vaulted cellars on stone rib vault crossings, probably dating from the Middle Ages, and is built against the chevet of the parish church.
