Historique

History
A medieval castle stood on a small island in the pond. Of this castle demolished in the early 19th century, there remains only a stone bridge with two arches, connecting the island to the shore. In 1896, construction of the new castle was entrusted to architects Coulomb and Chauvet. The work was completed in 1900. The building is formed of a main dwelling of elongated plan. It presents, to the north, an oval rotunda in half-projecting form, creating a central front-projection. The outbuildings are of rectangular plan, punctuated to the south by a central front-projection. Internally, a central vessel distributed the carriage houses and stables. On either side, and facing the castle, extend two quarter-circle wings, terminated by two pavilions, the western one housing the chapel. If the decoration, on the façade, concentrates on the pediments, it is not absent from the rest of the building: sculptured keystones in the form of agrafes and garlands of flowers underline the openings; ashlar rustication enlivens the facing of the wall piers. All around the building runs a balustrade. Internally, the entrance hall presents architectural decoration recalling that of the façades. The dining room is adorned with gypsum plasterwork decoration painted in faux marble. The salon is decorated with canvas panels representing animals.
