Après avoir occupé un poste dans la magistrature d'Orléans, saint Liphard embrassa une carrière ecclésiastique qui le porta à la vie érémitique, se retirant à Meung où il se construisit une cellule. History
After holding a position in the magistracy of Orléans, saint Liphard embraced an ecclesiastical career which led him to eremitic life, withdrawing to Meung where he built himself a cell. Marc, bishop of Orléans, authorized him to found a monastery with church at the place where his cell stood (6th century). Local tradition holds that vestiges preserved by the edge of the Maure correspond to this first construction. After its destruction, the church was rebuilt at its present location from 1101 to 1104, the period when the church was erected as a collegiate church. The building subsequently underwent works. In 1793, the church served as a meeting place for clubs, then as shops. The rood screen and most of the altars were torn down at that time. The building was restored from 1801 to 1837.
