Historique
Château-fort entouré de douves à l'origine, il fut la propriété de Jacques Coeur au 15e siècle (les tours d'angle en sont le témoignage) et est resté dans la famille jusqu'en 1638. Plusieurs rois de France y passèrent ou séjournèrent (Louis XI, Charles IX et Catherine de Médicis, Henri IV, Louis XIII...). Du Moyen Age subsistent la plateforme, quatre tours d'angle du bâtiment principal et les douves. Ce bâtiment principal est rectangulaire avec avant-corps saillant et un grand comble à la française à lucarnes de pierre du 16e siècle. La façade sur le parc a été remaniée au 20e siècle. De part et d'autre de l'entrée du domaine, les dépendances conservent le caractère architectural du 17e siècle, de même que le pigeonnier. Ce dernier conserve en fonctionnement le dispositif intérieur de charpente sur pivot desservant les alvéoles.

History
Fortified castle originally surrounded by moats, it was the property of Jacques Coeur in the 15th century (the corner towers are evidence of this) and remained in the family until 1638. Several kings of France passed through or stayed there (Louis XI, Charles IX and Catherine de Médicis, Henry IV, Louis XIII...). From the Middle Ages survive the platform, four corner towers of the main building and the moats. This main building is rectangular with a projecting avant-corps and a large French roof with stone dormers from the 16th century. The façade facing the park was remodeled in the 20th century. On either side of the entrance to the estate, the outbuildings retain the architectural character of the 17th century, as does the dovecote. The latter preserves in working order the interior pivot-mounted roof structure serving the cells.
