Historique
Construite sans doute au début du 19e siècle, la prison de transit servait d'étape aux malfaiteurs convoyés. Délaissée lorsque les transferts se firent par chemin de fer, elle fut utilisée comme entrepôt de matériel par les pompiers, puis service sociale après 1950. C'est un bâtiment carcéral rectangulaire, couronné d'un toit à quatre pans. Les façades postérieures et latérales sont aveugles. La façade sur rue est percée d'une porte en arcade inscrite dans une embrasure rectangulaire et de deux fenêtres en demi-cercle fermées par deux grilles. A l'étage se trouve le logement du geôlier. Au rez-de-chaussée, la disposition intérieure n'est plus celle d'origine. Seule la cellule sud aux murs doublés de chêne a gardé un intérêt et conserve des graffiti.

History
Built probably in the early 19th century, the transit prison served as a stage for transported criminals. Abandoned when transfers were made by railway, it was used as a materials warehouse by the fire service, then as a social service after 1950. It is a rectangular prison building, crowned with a four-slope roof. The rear and lateral facades are blank. The street facade is pierced with an arched door inscribed in a rectangular aperture and two semi-circular windows closed by two grilles. On the upper floor is found the jailer's dwelling. On the ground floor, the interior arrangement is no longer original. Only the southern cell with oak-lined walls has retained interest and preserves graffiti.
