History
A first keep on a motte was erected in the second half of the 10th century for Thibault the Trickster, count of Blois, destroyed in 1813. A new castle was built, flanked by three corner towers, of which the Coq tower survives, the gatehouse and the trapezoidal motte, erected in 1212. The north and south pavilions and the outbuildings must have been erected in the early 17th century. The north and south pavilions, the main portal, and the interior decoration of the 13th century gatehouse were completed around 1612. The outbuilding courtyard is separated from the main courtyard by a low enclosure wall decorated with niches in brick and stone.
