Historique
Château construit au 16e siècle, à l'emplacement d'un édifice féodal, par Guillaume des Roches qui avait la surveillance des travaux du château de Chambord. Le pont-levis et la galerie située près de l'entrée ont été détruits vers 1828. Le château se compose d'une avant-cour entourée de murs et bordée par les communs en briques et pierres. De là se fait l'accès dans l'enceinte rectangulaire du château, entouré sur les quatre faces de douves. Au fond se dresse le corps de logis principal, en briques et pierre, avec fenêtres à meneaux aux chapiteaux Renaissance. Une lanterne carrée se dresse sur la toiture, abritée par une pyramide que surmonte un campanile portant un dauphin en girouette. Sur la droite, un autre corps de logis porte la caractéristique du règne de Louis XII. Dans l'angle sud-est de l'enceinte se trouve un pavillon abritant la chapelle. En dehors de l'enceinte s'élève le colombier, contenant 1600 cases dont l'accès se fait par une échelle tournante.

History
Château built in the 16th century, on the site of a feudal building, by Guillaume des Roches who supervised the works of the château of Chambord. The drawbridge and the gallery situated near the entrance were destroyed around 1828. The château consists of a forecourt surrounded by walls and bordered by outbuildings in bricks and stone. From there access is made into the rectangular enclosure of the château, surrounded on all four sides by moats. At the far end stands the main dwelling block, in bricks and stone, with mullioned windows with Renaissance capitals. A square lantern rises on the roof, sheltered by a pyramid surmounted by a campanile bearing a dolphin as weathervane. On the right, another dwelling block bears the characteristic of the reign of Louis XII. In the south-east corner of the enclosure is found a pavilion housing the chapel. Outside the enclosure stands the dovecote, containing 1600 compartments access to which is by a revolving ladder.
