Historique
L'hôtel d'Amboise formait à l'origine, avec l'hôtel d'Epernon, un seul édifice construit pour le cardinal Georges d'Amboise. Sans doute vers 1573, l'hôtel fut divisé en deux parties, dont l'une fut habitée par le duc d'Epernon qui lui laissa son nom. Le corps principal de logis donne sur la place du château par un pignon dont les fenêtres décorées d'accolades à crochets encadrent l'écusson de la famille d'Amboise. Dans la cour se voit encore une grande baie encadrée de moulures gothiques que surmonte une lucarne décorée d'un gâble avec rampants à crochets.

History
The hôtel d'Amboise originally formed, with the hôtel d'Epernon, a single building constructed for Cardinal Georges d'Amboise. Doubtless around 1573, the hôtel was divided into two parts, one of which was inhabited by the Duke of Epernon who left it his name. The main body of the dwelling gives onto the castle square by a gable whose windows decorated with hooked accolades frame the escutcheon of the Amboise family. In the courtyard can still be seen a large opening framed with Gothic mouldings which is surmounted by a dormer decorated with a gable with hooked rampants.
