History
The theatre constitutes one of the elements of a Gallo-Roman monumental complex comprising temple, baths and structures interpreted during 19th-century excavations as an incineration necropolis. The whole constitutes a characteristic example of monumental complexes, erected away from any significant ancient agglomeration, and served by the road network. The plan of the edifice comprises typical anomalies which distinguish this monument from the classical plan of theatres.
