Historique

History
Built in the early 16th century on a feudal site, the château served as an arsenal and arms depot for Castelnau, one of the principal leaders of the Conjuration of Amboise in 1560. The Duke of Nemours, having discovered the plot, entered the château with a company of arquebusiers and seized Castelnau. Burned, the château was rebuilt in the 17th century. A long building is extended to the north by two return wings. The roof space is lit by large dormers, most of them with Renaissance gables framed by pinnacles. The central part of the rear façade to the south is much more composite. It may have been completed under the Restoration with its great double-flight steps. Inside, a vast 17th century wooden staircase with two straight flights and a large balustrade with square balusters.
