L'édifice fut construit à l'emplacement d'un château plus ancien, dont il reste quelques vestiges, par un des membres de la famille d'Antoine Fouquet. Le domaine comprend le château, les communs et le parc dans lequel se trouvent une petite construction appelée châtelet ou prieuré, datant de l'époque du château, et deux tourelles isolées plus anciennes. Le château est une construction de la seconde moitié du 16e siècle et se compose d'un corps de logis central plus élevé, de deux ailes en saillie sur la façade ouest, et de quatre pavillons d'angle en forme de bec, disposition particulière ajoutée pour la défense. A l'intérieur, les pièces d'habitation du rez-de-chaussée et celles de réception au premier étage, ont conservé leurs plafonds à poutres et solives apparentes ainsi que des peintures décoratives. Le premier est également orné de tapisseries des 17e et 18e siècles. Au deuxième étage de la partie centrale se trouve la chapelle, ornée de boiseries à motifs religieux. Au 19e siècle, la terrasse qui s'étendait à l'est a été démolie. Le jardin à la française à ses pieds a disparu. S'y trouvent une fontaine qui alimente des bassins successifs, et les restes des deux tourelles, vestiges du château primitif. History
The building was constructed on the site of an older castle, of which some remains survive, by one of the members of the family of Antoine Fouquet. The estate comprises the castle, the outbuildings and the park in which are found a small construction called a small castle or priory, dating from the period of the castle, and two older isolated turrets. The castle is a construction of the second half of the 16th century and comprises a higher central main dwelling, two wings projecting on the west facade, and four corner pavilions in the form of a point, a particular arrangement added for defence. Inside, the living quarters on the ground floor and those for reception on the first floor have retained their ceilings with exposed beams and joists as well as decorative paintings. The first floor is also adorned with tapestries from the 17th and 18th centuries. On the second floor of the central part is found the chapel, adorned with woodwork with religious motifs. In the 19th century, the terrace which extended to the east was demolished. The French formal garden at its foot has disappeared. There are found a fountain which feeds successive basins, and the remains of the two turrets, vestiges of the primitive castle. Around a rectangular courtyard, to the west of the castle, the outbuildings comprise several buildings, mostly from the 15th and 16th centuries, and have retained traces of painted decoration. Outside, there are three defensive towers.
