History
The fort Saint-Louis was a defensive work that flanked, to the east, the part of the main fortification of the castle corresponding to the royal lodging. Access was by two gates of which only the north one survives. Two solid cylindrical towers flanked it. Access to the gate is by a fixed bridge of one arch, already mentioned in the 16th century. The tower flanked the East facade of the fortification of the fort. The upper part was built at the same time as the 17th-century building, and crowned with a timber dome.
